THE FLASH - "The Fastest Man Alive"
WHY HE'S COOL
Quite simply put, he's the faster man alive, and what's not cool about that. He's a founding member of the Justice League and just one of the nicest guys you could meet. Even his supervillains respect and appreciate him!
Barry Allen is a forensic officer with the Central City Police Department. Being struck by lightning, causing a chemical accident in his lab, he gained the power of superspeed. Since he was a fan of old comicbook heroes (how meta is that) he decided to become a superhero himself: The Flash. Although things get weird when one of his archvillains, Reverse-Flash (who was so obsessed with the Flash, he managed to replicate his powers), when back in time, and killed Barry's mother when he was young (for good measure he framed his father). Once the Flash learned about this he tired to go back in time and save his mother. But for unexplained reasons, The Flash is incapable of fixing the timeline.
With his training as a scientist, the Flash can often use his powers in amazing ways: Run across water or up a wall, Create tornado, water spouts and vacuums. Oscillating his speed he can create multiple images of himself, and he can even vibrate his body so fast he can pass through solid objects, like walls. He can also break the time barrier, traveling backwards and forwards through time. His powers are said to come from an element force called the Speed Force.
The Flash's girlfriend is Iris West (her nephew is Wally West, who becomes Kid-Flash). Due to all the time travel, we know they do get married and have kids at some point. The Flash is also good friends with Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, and the rest of the Justice League.
Currently played by Grant Gustin, was raised by his father's friend, Joe West, after Barry's mother was killed and his father arrested for it. Joe also has a daughter Iris and an estranged son Wally. The accident that created The Flash, was caused by the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator. The accident created many superpowered beings. Reverse-Flash, from the future, got caught-up in the S.T.A.R. Labs accident as well, and found himself in the body of the scientist, Dr. Wells. Barry learns to be the Flash with the help of of (Reverse-Flash) Dr. Wells and and other S.T.A.R. Lab scientists Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon. The show is big on alternate time lines and Earths, so watch out.
This is a great hip t-shirt. Playing with the image of the rap band Run DMC, plus the movie Forest Gump. Barry, of course is the Flash and only Flash fans will get it. Something that always tickles the wearer, to see who gets it!
This is another sneaky one, a Flash logo for the window of their car. It will let all the world know they are a Flash fan- if they can recognize the logo!
At one point Barry Allen was dead, this issue tells the tale of him coming back to life again (something very common in comics). Any new fan will love this, as it is written by Geoff Johns, the man in charge of the DC hero movies. GOOD FOR KIDS
This is the follow up to The Flash Rebirth, as Barry Allen is back in action, again written by Geoff Johns. This is more traditonal superhero action, and is favorite among fans, so it's just right for the new fan! GOOD FOR KIDS
Every fan must have a copy of the this, the first nine issues of the Flash from the 1950's. It tells the Flash's origin and his first meeting with many classic villains. Your typical fan only buys new stuff, so this will be a treat. GOOD FOR KIDS
While Barry Allen was dead, Kid Flash (Wally West) became the Flash, and these are some of his best stories. Starting off with losing his powers. Written by superstar writer Mark Waid, no fan should miss this old volume! GOOD FOR KIDS
This will make any Flash fan happy. While it's based on the Reverse Flash ring from the TV show, in the comics, the Flash has a ring like this, wear he super folds his costume in. And just like in the comics, this ring has a secret compartment! GOOD FOR KIDS
This is a great book of interviews and back stories of the Flash's publishing history- all four of them! Any fan will dig this, but the diehard fan will get the most out of it! GOOD FOR KIDS
