GREEN ARROW - "Emerald Archer"

BATMAN

WHY HE'S COOL

He's the modern day Robin Hood, so to speak, although he doesn't rob from the rich and give to the poor. Nor does he have a feud with the local sheriff. Anyway, he's fights crime with just a bow and arrows, often trick ones filled with knock out gas, etc. He's also quite rich, with a beauty, kick@$$ girlfriend, Black Canary.

Born Oliver Queen to a wealthy family in Star City, USA. The do-nothing playboy got drunk on his yacht one day and fell over board. Strained on a deserted island for nearly a year, he fashioned himself a bow and arrow and hunted to survive on the island. When drug runners came to use the island, the now ace archer subdued them and called the authorities. Returning to civilization, Oliver was done with the playboy lifestyle. Encouraged and excited by his capture of the drug runners he decided to be a superhero: Green Arrow.

With nothing to do on the island but prefect his bowman skills, Green Arrow is unmatched with it. Being able to fire multiple arrows from a single bow string pull. He also learned how to be an excellent tracker on the island as well. As a gifted tinkers (he did build a bow and arrow out of nothing), Green Arrow has created several trick arrows, such as grappling hook arrows, net-arrows, glue-arrows, and the infamous boxing glove arrow (to punch people out from a distance). He even set-up an Arrow-Cave and Arrow-Car (ala Batman), for a while.

While not a founding member of the Justice League, he was the teams first recruit. While on the team he meet Black Canary, and two have become the most famous superhero couple ever. Green Arrow also found himself a side kick to train, with Speedy.

TV VERSION

Currently played by Stephen Amell in ARROW. One big changes in the TV show is Green Arrow's family, who have never appeared in the comics. Also the TV show has built a complex conspiracy around Oliver getting stranded on the island. The island was a base for a shadowy para-military campaign, and Oliver spends most of his time being hunted. Getting off the island, he doesn't come straight home, as he keeps getting involved in even more shady and criminal activity around the world. Green Arrow is also a bit more hardcore here, and is often called the “Hood” or the “Vigilante”, instead of Green Arrow.
